The Danish National Dish

Today, Denmark has announced it’s national dish. For the past few months, the Danish Food Ministry has been running a public vote to decide what should be the nations national dish.

The Winner
Roasted belly of pork, served with boiled potatoes and parsley sauce.

For those interested, this is strips of belly pork cut approx 4-5 mm in thickness, oven roasted until hard and crisp, seasoned before and after with lots of salt, served with a classic white sauce blended with parsley and boiled potatoes.

It should be pointed out that over 60,000 people voted, according to the Copenhagen Post with the winning dish getting 27,893 votes. This equates to approx 1% of the population turning out to vote and the winner getting 0.5% of the populations thumbs up.

Suffice to say, The Danish Food Ministry has ensured that no Dane will ever be able to belittle another countries national dish further more. Though possibly this morning, numerous other Food Ministries are having a chuckle.

Good to see tax revenue being used so wisely
